Dietetic Copper preserved as a solution in pig nutrition and support health management

On 23 July 2018, the revised maximum permitted levels of copper in complete feeds were published in the Official Journal of the European Union. In line with EFSA’s recommendations for soil protection, the maximum levels were lowered to 25 mg/kg for all ages of pigs, but the political agreement allows permitted levels of 150 mg/kg up to four weeks after weaning and 100 mg/kg up to eight weeks after weaning. This ensures feed manufacturers can incorporate adequate levels of copper for piglets to support their nutrition and good health in the most sensitive period of their life, while minimizing the impact on the environment.» read more

COCERAL, FEDIOL and FEFAC call for coherence in EU strategy for enhancing soy production

Brussels, 14 July 2017 - COCERAL, FEDIOL and FEFAC members rely on the EU production of oilseeds, soy and other oil- and protein-containing crops. We share the objective of an increased production of soy in Europe. According to the protein balance sheet developed by the European Commission, with input from COCERAL, FEDIOL, FEFAC and several other stakeholders, Europe produces already important amounts of protein, but there is a clear deficit of protein-rich crops and feed material. Out of the 31,2 million tons of protein-rich soybean meal used for feed in Europe in 2015/2016, 1,5 million were produced from EU grown soybeans .» read more

For FEFAC, consistency among EU policies influencing the protein supply and the strict implementation of waste hierarchy principles are main points of concern.
