European Antibiotic Awareness Day 2016: EPRUMA reiterates commitment to responsible use

In the light of the European Antibiotic Awareness Day on 18 November 2016, EPRUMA has reiterated its pledge to promote the responsible use of all veterinary medicines, including antibiotics, as part of the One-Health approach. The 10 member associations, including FEFAC, collaborate on the facilitation of information exchange on best practices and the increased transparency on antibiotic use at farm level.

In a video statement, EPRUMA Chairman Rens van Dobbenburgh highlights the 7 commitments EPRUMA members signed up to in a joint declaration at the EPRUMA/Slovak Presidency workshop on 13 October 2016. Van Dobbenburgh also highlights the latest ESVAC report where the continued downward trend of antibiotic sales for veterinary use indicates the sustained commitment to cross-sector responsibility.
