FEFAC and ITC are very pleased to announce that PRO-S by Bunge and the ProTerra Standard by the ProTerra Foundation have been successfully benchmarked against the FEFAC Soy Sourcing Guidelines through the customised ITC benchmarking tool. Including these two standards, there are now eleven responsible soy programmes that meet the EU feed industry’s baseline criteria on responsible soy production.
Angela Booth, Chairperson of the FEFAC Sustainability Committee: “The continued benchmarking applications by responsible soy programme owners show the growing acceptance by soy value chain partners of the FEFAC Soy Sourcing Guidelines. Bunge and ProTerra have recognised the value of qualifying with the EU feed industry’s demands and aligned their criteria accordingly”.
FEFAC and ITC strongly encourage further submissions by other responsible soy programme owners which would allow interested EU feed associations and member companies to transparently make further progress towards the mainstream market transition for the supply of responsibly produced soy to the EU feed sector. FEFAC will continue with outreach activities to promote the Soy Sourcing Guidelines to key supply groups as well as downstream customers in the EU value chain for livestock products.
