EP Report on AMR highlights feed contribution to solutions

On 13 September the European Parliament adopted a report by Karin Kadenbach (AT, S&D) in response to the European One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance published by the European Commission in June 2017.

In the fight against AMR, the report takes note of “the importance of promoting and applying good practices at all stages of the production and processing of food products and the importance of safe and nutritionally balanced feed, specific feeding strategies, feed composition, feed formulations and feed processing”. In addition, the report urges the Commission to allocate additional funding specifically for research into nontherapeutic feed alternatives for application in animal husbandry in the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
